About Dilemma's Books

Some people grow up collecting stamps or football cards. I grew up collecting books.

Born and raised in Kilkenny, I have been filling shelves, stacking windowsills, and running out of surface space since I was old enough to read. Books have always been less like possessions and more like companions. And you don't throw out a companion.

That's really where Dilemma's Books started. Not with a business plan or a market gap, but with a simple belief that throwing a book away is a sin. Every book that gets binned or left behind had a story, had a reader who loved it, and deserved better. I had hundreds of them sitting at home. I wanted to find them new homes.

So I built the infrastructure to do it properly.

Dilemma's Books is an online second-hand bookshop based in Kilkenny, shipping nationwide across Ireland. Every book is carefully graded by hand, honestly described, and priced so that reading more doesn't have to cost a fortune. No damaged stock. No mislabelled condition grades. No disappointments.

The bigger idea

Dilemma's Books is about more than buying and selling. The long term vision is a book trading network where books keep moving rather than sitting on shelves gathering dust or ending up in a bin bag.

The idea is simple. If you've finished a book and want a new one, trade it in. You'll receive store credit and that credit gets you your next read. The book you loved finds a new reader. The book you want finds its way to you. Nothing goes to waste.

I'm building that network now, one book at a time. If you want to be part of it, start with a mystery box or browse the shelves. And if you have books at home you'd like to pass on, get in touch.

Every book deserves a second chapter.
